About the Composer

Doug Reader has pursued various interests in the music profession including trombone performance,
college teaching, composition, church music, music technology, and music business. In recent days, he has focused on worship, American music and culture, and music as spiritual formation. His training in music theory (Ph.D in music theory/composition) is highly applicable in pursuit of greater understanding of the spiritual power of music. The goal is the realization of Col. 3:16, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God,” both on a personal level, as well as in today’s church.

About Us

The goal of our music is to begin with the Bible, allowing it to lead us via the Spirit in all music endeavors. This leading includes setting the Word to song, aiding understanding of the text, as well as aiding the memorization process. The inspiration for this approach comes from the culture surrounding the Bible, including traditions like the Psalms, which are the Word intended for song, as well as the prophets, who were also musicians of a sort and chanted their message. Early Christians also sang the Word, as do Christians in our day, thus, the strength of this idea is well-tested. Nevertheless, our approach is a bit unique, and we hope you’ll try it – it’s use promises great rewards.

Creating music for Scripture is truly life-changing. The next best thing is to sing it!
